Yellow and Black Photography Quote (1).p

"I have a highly distinct and original style with an outstanding use of color and composition."

She typically uses brilliant, vigorous colors and strong contrasts in her paintings. Clear - often geometric - shapes and repetitive elements give a unique rhythm to her paintings, unifying and separating fore and background at the same time. Sometimes, a viewer has to take a moment to differentiate between the object and its surroundings. Beate Blume uses simplified, abstracted and well-defined forms. The contours of the subjects remain mostly naturalistic.

A happy moment of everyday life: a mother and her boy encountering a cat and stroking it. The contours of the woman, her child and the cat remain naturalistic. The use of brilliant, vigorous colours and clear shapes creates a positive energy. Bright yellow and orange patches are spreading the happiness. Clear shapes and repetitive elements give a unique rhythm to my painting. The high purity of the colours makes the paintings appear to be flooded with light, emanating a joy of life.

The bright colors and the high purity of the colors make the paintings appear to be flooded with light. To increase the colors' impact, she uses extensive forms. The effect of the colors is enhanced by the strong contrasts of color and form. The use of vivid colors creates a feeling of power and a joy of life.

There is a beautiful deer in a light-flodded clearing in the forest. The warm predominantly green-yellow colours with a blue and orange accentuation in some areas emphasize the warm and peaceful atmosphere. The grace and elegance of the deer is underlined by the harmony of the colours and shapes. Clear shapes and repetitive elements give a unique rhythm to this painting. The high purity of the colours makes the painting appear to be flooded with light, emanating a joy of life.

In her paintings, each fragmented part helps create the meaningful whole. The artist regards this as symbolic of our lives. The final harmony of the colors and forms resonates with the viewer. As a comment on her art said: "Never get tired of seeing your paintings, they're happy little splashes of color that brighten every day."

"I create repetitive elements for a special rhythm in my cityscapes."

All of our perception is partial and fragmented but we can still create a meaningful whole and make ourselves feel at home in this world. People respond to this because it conveys a sense of the possibility of unity and completeness in themselves. It reminds them that in their lives too, harmony can be created despite contrasts and tensions in our disconnected modern world.

"I work intuitively with shapes and colors and decide which colors should rise and which forms should be focused on."

Beate Blume is particularly interested in animals. She would like to capture the magic in them. Animals are completely at home in this world. When contemplating on the beauty of the animals, the artist would like the viewers of her art to remind themselves that they, too, can live in harmony with themselves and with others.

An alert bull in the heat of the day. The muscular and powerful animal is ready to defend or attack. The bull's contours are almost naturalistic, colours and forms are abstracted. The limited palette reflects the animal's energy and alertness and the heat of the day. The contrasting, often geometrical forms and the repetitive elements create a special rhythm. Despite the contrasts in form and light the final artwork conveys a harmonious beauty and unity.

"After long years of working privately on my techniques and compositions and developing my own unique style I went public with my art in 2016."

Three dolphins in the water. The composition creates a sense of dynamic movement as well as a feeling of togetherness and it leads to the impression that the dolphins are looking at the viewer while the viewer is looking at them acknowledging each other's existence and showing their curiosity. The dolphin's typical playfulness and curiosity is captured. For the water and to express all the fun and playfulness of the dolphins different hues of blue and yellow are used.

Beate Blume enjoys moments in which people are happy and feel at home in the world. The artist wants people to connect or reconnect to such treasured moments. Creating feelings of happiness or re-living the happy emotions they felt in their lives at that time.

Early morning at Tower Bridge, London. The first sunlight and the remaining artificial light bathe the scene in blue, turquoise and yellow colours. The iconic London bridge is portrayed in a unique artistic style. To increase the colours' impact, extensive forms and strong contrasts are used. The contours are stylised yet recognisable, simplified geometric forms and repetitive elements create a unique rhythm. A modern, inspiring view of this Medieval architectural landmark.

Cityscapes are also a typical subject of Beate Blume's work. These city views are portrayed in her unique style with artistic license used as far as shapes and colors are concerned. Still, the views are clearly recognizable. The artist often keeps a strict color discipline, creating a special atmosphere.

A sleeping fox in a curled-up position. The warm green and orange colors create a cozy atmosphere. The large shapes draw the viewers' attention into the middle of the painting. The posture of the animal evokes feelings of safety and comfort creating a relaxing and soothing portrait of this beautiful animal.

Brooklyn Bridge at Sunset. The well-known iconic New York bridge portrayed from an artist's different perspective. Artistic license is used with regard to colors and shapes. The famous skyline is stylized, yet clearly recognizable. The sunset dips the city's skyline in warm orange red and yellow colors creating a fiery, glowing atmosphere. The contrasts of dark and light and repetitive elements create the special rhythm of this painting.

"I am intrigued by scenes where people enjoy moments in their lives."

A black panther on a tree at night. Naturalistic contours combined with extensive forms and restricted color use create a sense of danger and beauty at the same time in this almost minimalist composition. Yellow and dark blue colors are used to fit the night scene. The strict color discipline enhances the painting's effect.

The portrait of a young woman in a park on a beautiful and warm early summer day. A happy moment of feeling at home in the world. Intense colors create a sense of joy and energy. A humpback whale and her calf coming up from the depth to take a breath. Different hues of blue portray the fascinating animals in the depth of the water. One has to take a closer look to make out the animals in this underwater world. Seeing these wonderful animals being completely at home in their environment reminds us that we, at least at times, can be completely at home in the world.

"Despite the strong contrasts of color and form I succeed in creating a sense of unity and even harmony in my paintings."
